Sibyl Pauline Whipple, age 76, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away Thursday, October 16, 2008 at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice at Via Christi Regional Medical Center in Wichita, KS. She worked in the Sumner County Clerk's office for 32 years and was the Sumner County Clerk for 16 of those years. She retired in 1997.
Sibyl Pauline (Dwyer) Whipple was born April 23, 1932 in Wellington, KS to John Dwyer and Regina (Kraus) Dwyer. She attended Wellington public schools and graduated from Wellington High School with the class of 1950.
On January 18, 1952 Sibyl Pauline Dwyer married Monte Roy Whipple at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Wellington, KS. They celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in January of 2002 with their family and many friends in attendance. Monte preceded her in death in June of 2004.
Sibyl was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, the Altar Society, and the American Legion Auxiliary.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Monte; eight brothers, Matt, Clarence, Lawrence, Carly, Leo, Charles, Ralph, and Johnny Dwyer; four sisters, Irene, Hazel, Bertha, and Betty Jean.
Survivors include her four children; Debbie Jackson and her husband, Bob of Wichita, Janet Whipple of Wichita, Deane Reyes and her husband, Antonio, Jr., of Wellington and Paul Whipple and his wife, Shannon of Beloit, KS, grandchildren, Morgan Jackson of Wichita, James Jackson of Pine Bluff, AK, John Jackson of Dubuque, IA, Laurie Jackson of Norwalk, CA, Stephanie Swaggart of Wichita, Israel Swaggart of Geuda Springs, KS, April Davidson and Jamie Aiken of Wichita, Brandy Lyne of Alliance, NE, Christopher Whipple of Wellington, Katie Whipple and Kevin Whipple of Beloit; great grandchildren, James Jackson, Jr. and Faith Jackson of Olathe, Matthew Jackson and Sarah Jackson of Dubuque, IA, Eric Jackson of Norwalk, CA, Alex Lyne, Blake Lyne, Natalie Lyne and Chase Lyne of Alliance, NE, September Shobe and Travis Bowling of Wellington, Kayden Swaggart of Geuda Springs, KS, Diana Schock and Lori Wallace of Wichita and Caitlin Aiken of Wichita.
Vigil services will be held Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at 7:00 P.M. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Father Andrew E. Heiman and Father Andrew J. Seiler will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Prairie Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at Frank Funeral Home on Monday, October 20, 2008 from 1:00 – 9:00 P.M with the family greeting friends from 7:00 – 9:00 P.M. and on Tuesday, October 21, 2008 from 9:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M.
A memorial has been established with Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice. Memorial donations can be left at the funeral home.
