Stephen L. Lansden "Charred Feather," age 74, loving husband, father, and grandfather, and lifelong Wellington resident, passed away Sunday morning, December 22, 2019 at Family Health and Rehab in Derby, KS. Steve was a retired co-owner of Frank Funeral Home.

Steve was born on September 8, 1945 in Miami Beach, FL to Jack Leroy Lansden and Dorothy Pauline (Gardner) Lansden. He was a 1964 graduate of Wellington High School. He served in the United States Marines from 1964–1968 and was a Viet Nam Veteran.

Steve married Sanetha L. Penner on July 15, 1990 in Wellingon, KS.

He was a former Wellington Chamber of Commerce Board Member, a life member of the VFW, a 50 year member of the American Legion, a Kansas Hunter Safety Instructor for many years, a member of the Muzzle Loading Association, NRA, Operation Holiday Co-Chairman, and a member of Kansas State Board of Mortuary Arts and the Kansas Funeral Directors Association. He was an avid outdoorsman and liked to fish and hunt.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Roger.

Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Sanetha Lansden of Wellington; son, Eric Lansden and his wife Rachel of Wellington; daughter, Sharon Doornbos and her husband Rob of Medicine Lodge, KS; sister, Rita Moran and her husband Ed of Norman, OK; six grandchildren, Peyton and Evan Lansden and Levi, Cade, Lucas, and Cora Doornbos.

Funeral Services will be held at the First United Methodist Church on Friday, December 27, 2019 at 10:30 A.M. The Reverend Kendal Utt will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Prairie Lawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, December 26, 2019 from 1:00 – 8:00 P.M. The family will be present to greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M.

A memorial has been established with the Avenue of Flags in lieu of flowers. Contributions can be left at or mailed to the funeral home.
