Sydney Lyndell Nichols, age 88, passed away early Monday morning, December 8, 2008 at Slate Creek Deseret Nursing Home in Wellington, KS. She was a retired nurse's aide and dental assistant.

Sydney Lyndell Nichols was born on June 6, 1920 in Reed, OK to James Lindsey Hollis and Mary E. (Killian) Hollis.

Sydney married Charles F. "Nick" Nichols on July 8, 1937 in Wichita, KS. He preceded her in death on July 19, 2003.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles; infant son, Jerry; one son, Larry; two grandchildren, Rebecca and Paula Nichols; and two sisters.

Survivors include two sons, John and his wife Linda of Cornville, AZ and Sid of Wellington, KS; six grandchildren, Chuck Nichols, Terry Hollis, Bryen Nichols, Frankie Nichols, Bobby Nichols, and Karen Hensley; and 15 great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at Prairie Lawn Cemetery on Friday, December 12, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. Pastor Zane Brooks will officiate.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, December 11, 2008 from 4:00 – 9:00 P.M.

A memorial has been established with the Alzheimer's Association. Donations can be left at the funeral home.
