Velma Evelyn Creed, age 84, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on June 20, 2010 at her home in Wellington, KS. She was a homemaker and a long time Wellington resident.

Velma Evelyn (Finley) Creed was born on October 17, 1925 in Latham, KS to Vernie L. Finley and Mary Emma (Finley) Hart. She was a graduate of Latham High School with the Class of 1943.

Velma married Holland M. Creed on October 20, 1943 at the Antlers Hotel in Wellington, KS.

Velma is preceded in death by her parents; one son, Marvin James Creed; one grandson, Jason Lee Creed; and one brother, Delbert Finley.

Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Holland M. Creed of Wellington, KS; four sons, Clinton Creed and his wife Janice of Haysville, KS, Clarion Creed and his wife Bonnie of Wellington, KS, Carson Creed and his wife Sandy of Blackwell, OK, and Cedric Creed and his fiancée Kaye of Plains, KS; two daughters, Carolyn Lydick and her husband Darrell of El Dorado, KS and Cecelia Baker and her husband Larry of Enid, OK; brother, Gilbert Finley of Winfield, KS; sisters, Sonya Knowles of Wichita, KS and Patricia Craig of Latham, KS; 17 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 25, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at Frank Funeral Home. Chaplain Dan Floyd will officiate. Interment will follow the service at the Austin Cemetery in Anson, KS.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, June 24, 2010 from 1:00 – 8:00 P.M.

A memorial has been established with Hospice Care of Kansas. Contributions can be mailed or left at the funeral home.
