Vernita O. Morrison, 93, passed away Saturday, July 9, 2011 at the Golden Living Center in Wellington, KS.
Vernita was born February 7, 1918 in Wellington, KS to John Irl Gift and Lola Florence (Glaze) Gift and lived in or near Wellington all her life. She was a lifetime member of the First Christian Church.
She married F. Raymond Morrison on November 12, 1938. They were blessed with three children, Janet, Roger and Lina.
Vernita worked as a homemaker and was a clerk at McGee's department store for several years. She was a skilled seamstress and was best known for clothing fitting and alterations for many people in and around Wellington.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Raymond; parents, John and Lola Gift; her son, Roger K. Morrison; brothers, Deryl, Wayne, Orville and Merlin.
Survivors include two daughters, Janet and her husband Mike Glick of Wellington, KS and Lina and her husband Frank Glick of Crested Butte, CO; five grandchildren, Scott Glick and his wife Tracy of Garland, TX, Molly (Glick) Sowell and her husband Les of Sachse, TX, Shana (Glick) Watson and her husband Mike of Richmond Hill, GA, Jennifer Glick, of Austin, TX, Darren Glick of Crested Butte, CO; and eight great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Frank Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 from 1:00-8:00 P.M.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. at the First Christian Church in Wellington, KS. Interment will follow at Prairie Lawn Cemetery in Wellington, KS.
A memorial has been established with the Sumner Regional Medical Center Endowment Fund. Contributions can be mailed to or left at the funeral home.
