Virginia Opal Bacon, age 80, lifelong resident of South Haven, KS passed away Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Wellington.
Virginia Opal (Knox) Bacon was born on May 2, 1937 in Wellington, KS to Harold William Knox and Melba Fay (Church) Knox.
Virginia married James W. Bacon on July 26, 1956 in Winfield, KS and were life time partners in farming north of South Haven.
She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and enjoyed attending their activities.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Rogene Currey.
Survivors include her loving husband of 60 years, James Bacon of South Haven, KS; four sons, Kenny Bacon and his wife Diane of Drury, KS, James K. Bacon and his wife Cathy of Wellington, KS, Larry Bacon and his wife Brenda of South Haven, KS, and Bryon Bacon and his wife Suzie of South Haven, KS; one daughter, Kathie Scott and her husband Brad of Geuda Springs, KS; two brothers, James Knox of Wichita, KS and William Knox of South Haven, KS; two sisters, Marjorie Cartmill of Anthony, KS and Mary Sneed of Collinsville, OK; nine grandchildren, Josh Bacon, Kody Bacon, Lana Childre, Lance Bacon, Casey Cullens, Thomas Bacon, Zachary Bacon, Garrett Bacon, Sydney Bacon; and 15 great grandchildren.
Graveside Services will be held on Friday, November 17, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at the Rose Hill Cemetery. Pastor James Byers will officiate.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, November 16, 2017 from 1:00 – 8:00 P.M. The family will be present to greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M.
A memorial has been established with U.S.D. #509 Track Activity Fund in lieu of flowers. Contributions can be left at or mailed to the funeral home.
