Virginia Leigh Haggard, age 83, passed away Friday afternoon, September 26, 2008 at Via Christi Regional Medical Center - St. Francis Campus in Wichita, KS. She was a retired custodian for USD#353.

Virginia Leigh (Dennis) Haggard was born on August 14, 1925 in Anthony, KS to Paul H. Dennis and Eugenia C. (Smith) Dennis.

Virginia Leigh Dennis married Lawrence D. Haggard on April 7, 1945 in Wichita, KS. They celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary this past April.

Survivors include her husband Lawrence of Wellington, KS; son, Dennis Haggard and his wife Donna of Stoddard, WI; five brothers, Bill Dennis of Wellington, KS, Kendall Dennis of Wichita, KS, Paul Dennis of Abilene, KS, Stephen Dennis of Elgin, OK, and David Dennis of California; two sisters, Cordial Liggett of Bartlesville, OK and Betty Walmock of Winfield, KS; three grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

Cremation has taken place. There will be no service.

A memorial has been established with the Avenue of Flags. Contributions can be mailed to or left at the funeral home.
