William "Bill" Norman Metcalf, Jr., age 69, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away at his home in Hunnewell, KS on February 23, 2009. He was a retired Detention Officer for Sumner County.
William Norman Metcalf, Jr., was born on November 21, 1939 in New London, CT to William Norman Metcalf, Sr. and Helen (Shea) Metcalf.
He served in the United States Air Force from December 18, 1956 – March 25, 1958.
He married Cheryl A. King on October 27, 1966 in Lincoln, NE. She preceded him in death on January 7, 2004.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, coaching baseball, and playing Santa Claus for many years.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Cheryl, granddaughter, Carmen; and brother, George L. Metcalf.
Survivors include one son, Matthew Metcalf and his wife Shelby of Caldwell, KS; one daughter, Shea Koehn and her husband Aaron of Renfrow, OK; and one grandchild, Presley Shea Metcalf of Caldwell, KS.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 27, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. at the United Methodist Church in South Haven, KS. Chaplain Dan Floyd will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Rose Hill Cemetery in South Haven, KS.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, February 26, 2009 from 9:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. The family will be present to greet friends from 6:00 – 9:00 P.M.
A Memorial has been established with the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Contributions can be left at the funeral home.
