Obituary

William Paul Kelly, age 67, passed away on April 5, 2009 at Sumner Regional Medical Center with his family and loved ones by his side. He was a retired machinist at BAE Systems. He had been a Wellington resident since 1968 moving here after serving in the U. S. Army.

He was born on November 14, 1941 in San Francisco, CA to William Charles Kelly II and Henriette Pauline (Peters) Kelly. He was raised in Yukon, OK and graduated from High School there.

Will had an avid love for old cars and was a member of "The River City Street Rod Club." He thoroughly enjoyed car shows and working on and showing his 1938 Chevy. He also liked playing cards, traveling, bowling, and an occasional trip to the casino. He was a member of the American Legion and the First Christian Church. He was a great story teller who sometimes liked to stretch the truth. He will always be remembered for his wonderful since of humor.

He is preceded in death by his father, William Charles Kelly and his step-father, Harry Schlegel.

Survivors include his wife of 12 years, Marcella V. "Marcy" Kelly of Wellington, KS; his mother, Henriette P. Schlegel of Heber Springs, AR; sister, Karol K. Patchin and her husband Pat of Higden AR; four step-children, John R. "Rusty" DeJarnett of Wellington, KS, Anthony Allen "Tony" DeJarnett and his wife Terri of Quinlan, TX, Rebena R. "Beanie" Townsend of Wellington, KS, and Jana Sue "Brat" Hilliary and her husband Randy of Wellington, KS; step-grandchildren, Christina, Jessica, Jason R., Amanda, Johnathon, Cliff, Anisha, Jason S. and Mitzi; and step-great grandchildren, Catherine, Damon, Daniel, Trenton, Pete, Tyler, Megan, Kendal, Holly, Braden, Craig, and Jackson; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

With so much love and sadness in our hearts we will lay our loved one to rest on Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. Funeral Services will be held at Frank Funeral Home. Chaplain Dan Floyd will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Prairie Lawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 7, 2009 from 1:00 – 9:00 P.M.

A Memorial has been established with Hospice Care of Kansas. Contributions can be left at the funeral home.
